The “do it yourself” crossover to satisfied customer

Some of my new clients have cleaned their carpet themselves using a rental machine. In today’s economy, I can certainly understand why people need to try save  some money wherever they can.

People usually tell me that they have always cleaned it themselves but just couldn’t go through with it again. When I ask them why not, all responses seem to be similar; “It is too much work for me” , “It takes too long to do it” , “The carpets take too long to dry” or “I just doesn’t work as good as I thought it would”.

From a professional’s standpoint, I know that rental machines are inferior to the professional carpet cleaners arsenal by far.  If you’re desperate and need to get it done right away read this before you rent a carpet cleaning machine. First we will go over the pros and cons of doing it yourself.

Pros:

1.  The cost is relatively inexpensive.

2. You will never be late.

3. You can re clean an area any time you want.

4. You can usually rent a machine 24/7.

5. You can pick which available chemicals you want to use.

Cons:

1. You have to go get the machine.

2. You have to use the machine.

3. If you have steps, good luck with that one!

4. You don’t know what the person before you used it for.

5. If you didn’t buy enough chemicals, you have to go get more.

6. You can hurt yourself loading it or lugging it around or up and down steps and so forth.

7. You can cause damage to your carpet.

8. You can use the wrong chemicals or too much chemicals.

9. You will over wet the carpet so it will take longer to dry (but that is the least of your problems caused by over wetting).

10. It takes a long time to clean with it.

11. You have to clean it out before you return it.

12. You have to bring it back.

13. If you use it longer than you rented it for, you have to pay extra.

I have to stop writing about the cons, there are just too many. trust me there are more but I think that is enough for now. So if you really want to rent a machine and do the work yourself, go for it. I’m interested in how well it works for you or if it was a futile attempt.

Now let us look at the pros and cons of hiring Ultra Steam Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning. I will try to be as fair and realistic as I can.

Cons:

1. You have to call and set an appointment

2. If you want to save some money you have to vacuum and move your furniture out of the areas that you want cleaned.

3. It will cost more for removing stains that won’t come out by cleaning.

4. You will pay more than you would if you rented a machine.

5. I’m not available 24/7.

Pros:

1. I own the company and do all the work myself.

2. I use green cleaning products and I know which cleaning agents to use.

3. I know all about different fibers and fabrics.

4. I can tell you how your carpet will respond to cleaning before I start.

5. I can give you an accurate price of the areas that are to be cleaned before I start.

6. I love my job and I am very passionate about the work I do.

7. I take the time and money to educate myself in all of the services I provide.

8. I’m experienced and I’m very good at what I do.

9. The carpets are dry in 4- 6 hours and sometimes even sooner than that.

10. I show up neat, clean, in uniform and a professionally lettered vehicle.
