 Upholstered furniture needs to be regularly vacuumed  or dusted to remove surface dust and grit that builds up. If possible, rotate and reverse cushions on couches and chairs. Fading and wear will usually be less noticeable. Also get window treatments if your upholstery is exposed to heavy sunlight. No amount of cleaning will restore color fading.
